Shuswap

Beautiful. Casual. Down-to-earth.

The Shuswap region is home to some of BC’s best year round fishing opportunities. Whether it’s exploring Shuswap Lake itself, one of its many tributaries, or a neighbouring small lake, the fishing opportunities are plentiful.

Shuswap Lake is a massive body of water that is home to healthy populations of rainbow, bull, and lake trout. While some section of the lake can be closed seasonally, most portions stay open and fish year-round. The spring and Fall months can be especially productive as fish feed on the eggs and flesh (fall) and fry (spring) of the salmon runs.

The region is home also home to some excellent small lake fisheries. Often to be among the first to “ice off” in the Springs, lakes like White, Phillips, and Gardom are very productive and stocked with trout annually. If you are visiting in the winter months, be sure to bring your ice fishing gear.

The Shuswap is also home to some excellent river fishing. The world renowned Adams River sockeye run provides a feast for resident trout and char and can be a very productive fishery in the fall. Be sure to check the BC Fishing Regulations for seasonal and area closures.

The Shuswap “meeting of the waters” is in the heart of the traditional territories of the Secwepemc. It is a place of gathering so please be respectful during your visit.
