A Lake A Day On The Fishing Highway 24

exploring the region with Little Fort Fly and Tackle's Steve Jennings

“Fish a lake a day for as long as you stay” has coined the Interior region of British Columbia for years, and is a very realistic description of the fly fishing options found here. Situated on the corner of Highway 5 and Highway 24 lies Little Fort Fly & Tackle, founded by Steve Jennings in 1990 some 11 years after moving to the area.

Steve attributes the draw of Highway 24 to its sheer number of quality fly fishing lakes. “You can fish with lots of people on one lake, and then find a lake that nobody has been into for a couple of years”, Steve’s wealth of passion and knowledge on fishing Highway 24 shines through his words as he describes the ample opportunity that this trout fishing mecca presents.

Some lakes on Highway 24 support populations of wild rainbow trout, others stocked through a carefully managed stocking program. Rich in fly fishing and lodging history, Highway 24 is a special piece of the province. Everything from comfortable resorts to remote hike-in lakes can be found on “The Fishing Highway.”

“For me, the draw to the area is the diversity of Highway 24”
