Unparalleled scenery, wildlife and saltwater fishing
The Sunshine Coast marks one of British Columbia’s premier saltwater fisheries for all five species of Pacific Salmon. Located just a short ferry ride from Vancouver, there is a stark contrast from the bustle of BC’s largest city. The vibrant green waters of the Salish Sea are home to one of British Columbia’s most unique and productive year-round salmon fisheries.
Fishing on the Sunshine Coast is diverse, with ample opportunity for both salt and freshwater anglers. The vast range of structures along the Sunshine Coast offer prime feeding habitat for migratory and resident Chinook salmon, as well as a variety of bottom fish including Halibut and Ling Cod.
Offering four seasons of salmon fishing opportunities, smaller “feeder” Chinooks habituate these waters in the wintertime with larger migratory fish showing up in late-spring. Sockeye, Coho, Pink and Chum salmon also swim the coastline and are targeted with a variety of angling methods. A unique aspect of the Sunshine Coast’s prolific Chinook salmon fishery is the ability to anchor overtop of schooling baitfish, catching these powerful bright salmon with mooching techniques and live bait.
British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast is bordered by the magnificent Coast Mountains, and makes up over 180 kilometers of rugged coastline. Living true to its name, the Sunshine Coast is graced with over 270 days of sunshine each and every year. The Sunshine Coast is a perfect destination for those in search of adventure and spectacular fishing in a pristine environment.
